The stress corrosion cracking (SCC) and threaded brass fittings

Reducing the effects of stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in the threaded brass fittings, even during their installation.

Applying metallurgic knowledge to the threaded brass fittings teaches us how the alloys used in the creation of these products, if not treated correctly during all phases of manufacturing and even of installation, could suffer from a phenomenon known as Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC).
GNALI BOCIA’s production chain begins with the hot-pressing of the semi-finished products used for the production of threaded brass fittings, to which follows a controlled-speed cooling. This allows us to obtain an alpha-phase crystal structure, which reduces the effects of SCC.
Even the processing onto the machines has its influence. The choice of ‘not-so-aggressive’ utensils, as the ones used in their production, helps reducing the effects of such phenomenon.  
The installation of the threaded brass fittings is also important to reduce the negative effects to a minimum. Particular attention must be devoted to the tightening process as well as to materials used in the sealing. It’s important, indeed, to make use of purposely-fabricated sealing materials.
All of these provisions guarantee the threaded brass fittings to last for a long time.
